About Mija Bo Farms

When we lived on the farm, Mom (Grammie) liked to enter contests and sweepstakes.  One contest sponsored by Crystal Sugar was giving away a vacation home.  Part of the sweepstakes criteria was that you had to give the vacation home a name.  Mom filled in the blank with "Mija Bo."  When asked what that meant, she explained:

       M          Mitchell

       I            Ida Mae

      J           Jim

      A           Ann (the middle name of Joyce, Jo, and Jean)

      BO         Bock

When our parents died and left us the farm, we tried to think of a name for our corporation.  Mija Bo Farms immediately came to mind, and now the four children and eight grandchildren make up the  shareholders of Mija Bo Farms LC.

While anyone is welcome to visit our web site, it was designed for the shareholders to share pictures and recipes and to provide easy links to farm news, prices and weather conditions for any of the shareholders as well as near our farm in northern Iowa.
