Apple Pie

Adopted by Justin Rule who bakes it each year for his mom's birthday,
just like Grammie used to do
4 1/2 cups sliced apples (Delicious apples make the best pies)
1 cup sugar
2 Tablespoons flour
Mix together, then use mixture to fill 9" pie crust (below). Sprinkle with about 1 teaspoon cinnamon and dot with 1 1/2 Tablespoons butter. Put a few air vents in the top crust. Bake 15 minutes at 450 degrees, then 45 minutes at 350 degrees.
Pie Crust

2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup lard
1/4 cup ice water
Measure flour and salt in mixing bowl. Add 1/3 cup lard. Blend with pastry blender until mixture resembles find meal. Add remaining 1/3 cup lard. Blend until pastry particles are the size of giant peas. Sprinkle with ice water. Mix lightly with fork until all flour mixture is well moistened. Divide dough in half. Roll out to fit 9: pie pan, fill with desired filling. Roll other half for top crust. Moisten edges of lower crust before putting on top crust.
